Stack Freelance is reader-supported. Some links on our website, in our guides and in our newsletters are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a commission — at no additional cost to you. This is how we keep most of our tools free.
What affiliate links are
An affiliate link is a tracked URL that tells the merchant we referred you. The price you pay is the same whether or not you use our link. The merchant pays us a commission from its own margin, not from your pocket.
Where we use them
- Tool result pages and recommendations (for example, software or services that fit a result).
- Our resources directory and curated lists.
- Blog posts, guides and comparisons.
- Email newsletters.
How we choose what to recommend
We recommend products and services we believe are genuinely useful to freelancers, based on our own research, testing and experience. Affiliate commissions do not determine our rankings or verdicts. A product does not pay to be recommended, ranked higher or described favourably. Where we have not tested something ourselves, we say so.
Sponsored and paid content
If a post, video or newsletter is sponsored or paid for, we label it clearly as sponsored or paid partnership. Sponsorship does not give a brand editorial control over our conclusions.
Our own products
We also sell our own templates and paid plans. When we link to our own products, those are commercial offers from us, not third-party affiliate links. See our Terms of Service for the licence that applies to templates.
Cost to you
Nothing. You pay the same price you would pay going directly to the merchant. Occasionally a merchant may offer a better price through an affiliate link, but you should always compare.
Regulatory disclosure
This disclosure is intended to satisfy the US Federal Trade Commission's endorsement guidelines and the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) guidelines on influencer and affiliate advertising. We aim to make affiliate relationships clear and conspicuous wherever they appear.
